European Food Information Resource AISBL
European Food Information Resource (EuroFIR) is a non-profit, member-based, international association established in 2009 to advocate for food information in Europe. EuroFIR offers independent brokerage of validated food composition data and supporting information for research and commercial purposes across Europe and beyond to improve data quality, data storage, and access for a range of applications and better re-use of food composition data. EuroFIR draws high-quality food information from more than 40 compiler organizations across Europe, US and Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Role in the project
EuroFIR has a crucial role providing food composition data, specifically micronutrient content, to help identify and address nutritional deficiencies (WP3). In addition, we are responsible for data management and quality assurance (T3.2), which will estimate MN exposure and food sources in habitual diets. We are leading dissemination, communication and education (WP8), which aims to raise awareness of micronutrient deficiencies in Europe, also impact and exploitation (WP9). Finally, we are leading a gender equality (Task 1.6) to promote sex- and gender equity in the project.
