Prof Kevin Cashman and Prof Mairead Kiely from the Cork Centre for Vitamin D and Nutrition Research at the School of Food and Nutritional Sciences, University College Cork, Ireland are coordinating Zero Hidden Hunger EU, a Horizon Europe project on Tackling Micronutrient Malnutrition and Hidden Hunger to Improve Health in the EU.
The project will provide estimates of the prevalence of deficiencies of vitamins and minerals across Europe for the first time. Based on nutritional biomarker and micronutrient intake data in European populations and their associated health costs, we will focus on high-risk population groups and provide the best possible evidence to develop context-specific, tailored food-focused solutions to ensure adequate supply of vitamins and minerals from diets from sustainable sources. Using high-throughput biomarker and advanced data analytical and modelling techniques, Zero Hidden Hunger EU will deliver credible evidence enabling policymakers and food system actors to deliver food-focused strategies to eradicate micronutrient deficiencies in Europe.
We are inviting applications from highly motivated candidates for three Post-Doctoral Researcher positions with a closing date of May 24, 2024 through the UCC HR portal.
