On November 1, 2024, at the Serbian Academy of Science and Art in Novi Sad, Dr. Jelena Milešević from the Institute for Medical Research (IMR) presented critical findings on hidden hunger, an often-overlooked form of malnutrition resulting from micronutrient deficiencies. This “hidden hunger” affects about one-third of the global population and is linked to reduced productivity, poor health, and impeded socio-economic growth, particularly in low-income regions. Dr. Milešević underscored the need for robust data and tailored interventions to address this pressing issue, especially among vulnerable groups. Her presentation called for increased research and policy support to combat these silent deficiencies and promote global health equity.
